Compared to other guns I've held in my hands. Not bad, just more stable than most. I must have liked it because just a few months later I bought one.

Full disclosure: Most of the guns I review are new to me and my review is about initial impressions. Not so with this one. I had an original G30 before the 30S came out and in 2014 I sold my G30 to get the G30S model. Lighter and thinner than the original model, this is a jewel of a gun; A .45 caliber punch in a compact frame that just feels right to me. Aside from the fact that it is chambered in .45 ACP, the Glock 30S might be my favorite handgun of all time.

The first and last reason to consider a Glock pistol is simplicity and reliability. There is no simpler and more reliable gun on the planet than a Glock. However, the G30S was designed specifically for concealed carry - it's the compact version of the Glock 21 service pistol. So you might consider carrying the G30S for its easy concealability (it's slightly smaller than the G19).
You might consider the G30S because of its .45 chambering, as many people prefer to have fewer large-caliber rounds than more small-caliber rounds in the hip. If you have larger hands, consider the 30S for its tighter grip radius. It's a double stack .45, so it has a beefy grip that fills the hand. Despite the large chamber, double stack of large bullets in the magazine, and meaty grip, the G30S is a relatively light carry gun at just over 30 ounces loaded.
The Glock 30S is a slightly smaller version of the G30. The main features are the narrower shutter width (1" vs. 1.12") and lower shutter weight (it's a full 3.5 ounces lighter than the G30's shutter) and with the SF frame the 30S has a slightly shorter single trigger reach and overall grip radius Compared to the base G30.
, but it has the advantage of being very easy to describe with a Dremmel grinder to ensure a perfect fit and comfort. I believe every Glock pistol frame needs both contours and pieces, so my 30S is set up that way. So for me, my Glock 30S fits like a glove.

I expect some will find the G30S grip more comfortable than other Glock models due to the extra girth. My medium height and I find the range and trigger range to be fine.
The .45 ACP cartridge packs a certain punch compared to the 9mm, and any .45 shot from a compact polymer frame will pack some pop. However, the G30S is by no means harsh or uncontrollable. The gun is fairly tame. I have no problem firing an accurate drill as fast as I can move my finger with this gun, and provided you have the right grip, it is an easy gun to control. Similar to comfort concerns, the frame could be contoured to allow for a better thumb grip To help manage recoil.
One thing I'd like to point out is that while the 10-round mags allow almost anyone to fully grip the gun, the 9-round flush leaves a short enough grip that the little finger might not be able to. handle grip. For those with large hands, the ring finger may have no grip at all. The result isn't as short as, say, a G26, but the fact that it's a .45 may mean that some people want the full grip that 10-round mags offer to handle the recoil impulse.
I'm used to carrying a Glock 19 all day and I find the G30S even better at concealment than the G19. This fact is mainly due to the shorter handle. The foil is about the same width as the G19, but the frame is slightly wider, but only just, and the difference in concealment is non-existent. Overall, this is an easy gun to conceal; And only slightly heavier than G19. The G30S is actually a little lighter on the belt when carried with the 9-round ejector magazine.

Typical extended sight magazines are 10 round, allowing 11 to fit into your gun. That capacity isn't bad at all, especially considering the compact package and the length of the handle. No complaints here.
Well it's a Glock. The Glock 30S is built like any other Glock pistol and the frame is a Gen 3 design. The recoil spring is from the captured double spring version. Like most Glock pistols, the G30S comes with a polymer rear sight with a U-slot. You'll probably want to replace these standard sights with some kind of iron sight.
The 30S slide has the bullnose outline at the muzzle, but is like any other model. The slide lock handle and release tabs are very low profile, providing the simplest and most stylish external control complement in the industry.
Despite its simplicity and reliability, customization is a Glock's best friend. Almost every aftermarket manufacturer in the world makes spare parts and accessories for Glock pistols, and if you are looking to replace or upgrade components you have the widest range of options.

Note, however, that unlike some Glock pistols, the G30S does not have a reversible magazine release. If you are left handed, the G30S requires you to use the magazine version without modification. It's not a huge hurdle, but it's a departure from almost every other contemporary Glock model.
I carried the Glock 30S a few years ago and it was my daily carry gun for about a year. I carried the gun in my waistband at the 5 o'clock position with 9 round mags in the gun and 2 10 round mags in the OWB mag pocket on my left side at about 8 o'clock. This rig hid very well under a basic t-shirt, in part due to the compact nature of the G30S with The wash magazine. Even with the full-size magazine, the G30S has a shorter grip than the G19 (which I now carry on a daily basis), allowing it to be well concealed no matter where you carry it.
Fully loaded, the G30S is less than 0.4 ounces heavier than a fully loaded G19 at 30.36 ounces. It's not particularly light, but it's pretty awesome for a double-stack .45 pistol. I find that as long as you have a good strap it's easy to forget you're wearing it. And it is not a flat exhaust, but a fact based on many years of experience.
The Glock 30S is an easily concealable compact .45 with good capacity for its size and weight. It's as reliable a gun as ever, and it's easy to adjust. Available with a wide variety of aftermarket components and fasteners.
Do You Own A Gen 4 Glock 30?
Some with smaller hands may find the grip uncomfortably wide. The polymer sights should only be replaced with iron. The price may be a bit high for this gun.
The Glock 30S is probably the most comfortable compact pistol that Glock makes, but it still requires some minor modifications to be a truly comfortable weapon.
The Glock 30S may not be for everyone, but everyone should try it. If you like the .45 ACP cartridge and don't mind its recoil profile, I think the G30S offers the perfect combination of size, weight, capacity, reliability and concealability.
